Hot Off the Production Line
Allight have been manufacturing quality equipment via batch production for over twenty years, but the time has come for us to walk the line. As part of our commitment to a culture of fanatical customer service, and our drive to improve efficiency by always employing the most innovative and effective processes, Allight's manufacturing process has recently undergone a revolution; from batch production to faster and more efficient continuous production, supported by series of offline subassemblies. Our aim is to remain a competitive and efficient manufacturer of quality Australian equipment, delivering global market leading products from our Perth facility.
Allight's Engineering and Manufacturing Manger, Marcus West, explains some of the benefits of the process transformation; "Standardised components and tasks improve efficiency, and increase output. It also means that we have fewer works-in-progress, so, essentially, fewer incomplete machines waiting around on the floor, more room to move."
The shift also represents a greater responsiveness to our customers' needs and shorter lead times. He adds, "Continuous Production means continuous delivery. So, rather than a large batch being completed every week or so, a machine will be coming off the line every couple of hours. The customer can choose whether he wants his whole order at once, or have them delivered as they're completed, if he needs a couple urgently."
After consultation with Allight's manufacturing team, the revolution went live in the first week of May.
