ALLIGHT CUSTOMERS’ TALK – MOBILE DEWATERING

Market Segment: Dewatering

BACKGROUND

In the mid 1990s Mobile Dewatering took advantage of an over-supply in the rental generator market and chose to hire their generators when required.

As the business expanded and took on projects in remote locations, requiring 24/7 availability, they decided to invest in their own fleet of reliable power generators.

Enter Allight. As a trusted supplied of pumps, parts and service to Mobile Dewatering, and the Australian distributor for FG Wilson generators, Allight was the obvious choice for a reliable power generation solution.

When the Sebbes family took over Mobile Dewatering in 1994, the business had one vehicle and six pumps servicing a limited market in Perth. Today, James and Jim Sebbes have grown Mobile Dewatering into one of Western Australia’s largest dewatering companies, with over 400 generators and pumps in the field.

Built on the promise of providing the most reliable and cost-effective systems to control groundwater, Mobile Dewatering is now contracted by some of Australia’s leading mining, civil engineering and construction companies to manage their dewatering needs.

According to James, the success of Mobile Dewatering is owed to their expertise and the quality of the equipment they use.

“When we started, hire companies were offering great deals on gensets, so we hired our generators. As we grew and acquired long-term projects in the Pilbara, we realised we needed to invest in our own fleet to guarantee 24/7 availability.

“We had been using Allight for several years for our compressor prime pumps, piston pumps, parts and service. As they were the Australian distributor for FG Wilson generators, it made sense to use them for our genset needs too,” said James.

“Our equipment must work 24/7 – if it doesn’t, our customers will simply go elsewhere. Allight’s equipment has stood up to the harshest conditions each time.”

“One of the toughest challenges we’ve faced involved Fortescue Metal Group’s heavy rail unloader in the Pilbara, at a 25-metre deep excavation site the size of about two football fields.

“Our job was to keep the water out of the pit. That year, a cyclone totally demolished the construction village, but our Allight generators and pumps continued working and kept the pit dry, despite being sandblasted to bare metal on the windward side.”

“In our industry, excuses aren’t an option – we need reliable equipment and support, and Allight delivers both.”

“One of the highlights of dealing with Allight is their ability to respond to problems quickly. They understand the commitments we make to our customers, whether it’s a mining operation in the Pilbara or a construction company in Perth needing standby power.

“Experience has taught us that you can’t cut corners – cheap gensets simply don’t provide the same level of quality and reliability. The costs of break-downs in the field far outweigh the initial investment.

“We know this, because when we had to use inferior gensets, they let us down. Now we use Allight whenever we can, as they really do make our lives easier.

“What we appreciate most is the strong support we get from Allight, which enables us to meet our obligations to our clients. Thanks to Allight’s Australia-wide support network, we know we can rely on them even in the most remote parts.  We also value their service-friendly design, which makes regular preventative maintenance in the field easy.”

“My advice to anyone in the market for gensets or pumps is to talk to Allight. They take the time to understand your business and your requirements, and then they work closely with you to keep you in business.”
